Social alerts

Automatically announce every post from your favorite creators: Ganyu watches 9 platforms and posts in the channel of your choice, with a customizable announcement message.

Updated on

01 Supported platforms

Each platform has its own page in the Alerts tab of the The web dashboard. There you declare the account to follow by its identifier (username, channel, subreddit or feed URL depending on the case).

  • YouTube — new videos and livestreams from a channel.
  • Twitch — stream starts of a streamer.
  • Kick — stream starts of a streamer.
  • TikTok — new posts from an account.
  • X (Twitter) — new posts from an account.
  • Bluesky — new posts from an account.
  • Reddit — new posts from a subreddit.
  • RSS feeds — any site that exposes a feed.
  • Podcasts — new episodes from a podcast feed.

02 Setting up an alert

Everything happens in the The web dashboard: open the page for the platform you want, add the account to follow, choose the destination channel and then, optionally, a display name and a custom announcement message (up to 2000 characters, for example to mention a role).

Ganyu then automatically composes a nice embed (author, title, description, thumbnail, "View" button) for each new post. Your custom message, meanwhile, is posted as text above the embed.

Each alert can be enabled or disabled individually without having to delete it.

VariableReplaced with
`{title}`The post's title.
`{url}`The link to the post.
`{author}`The name of the followed creator.

Tip — Insert {title} and {url} into your announcement message for dynamic text, e.g. @everyone {author} just posted: {title} — {url}.

03 Quotas and premium

Social alerts are a Premium server feature: the free tier doesn't let you set up any. The quota applies per platform — so you can follow as many YouTube channels as Twitch streamers, each within its limit.

Tip — Combine a Twitch alert with a button-role mention (Automatic roles & welcome) so your members choose for themselves whether to get notified.

? Frequently asked questions

Q. How quickly is a post announced?

Ganyu polls each followed platform regularly. The announcement therefore arrives shortly after the post, within the limits of the check cycle and each platform's own delays.

Q. Can I mention a role in the announcement?

Yes. Put the mention (@everyone, @here or <@&roleId>) in the alert's custom message field: it will be posted as text above the embed.

Q. How many creators can I follow?

The quota applies per platform: 3 accounts per platform on Premium, 25 on PRO. The free tier doesn't allow social alerts.

Q. An alert stopped working, what should I do?

Check that the account's identifier is still valid (channel not renamed/deleted) and that the destination channel still exists and remains accessible to the bot. You can disable and then re-enable the alert from the dashboard.
